With the opening of the first phase of NTT Communications Hong Kong Financial Data Center (FDC1), the hosting landscape for mission critical data in Asia has been transformed. Where enterprises once had to compromise on location, reliability, capacity, flexibility, connectivity or security — now you can have them all. Right here in the heart of Hong Kong.


The FDC™ is one of the largest data center complexes in Hong Kong, with industry leading colocation, utility power and cooling capacity. It was launched in 2013 with one data center tower (FDC1) and one Command and Control Tower, offering over 3,000 racks of server space. It is also the first data center in the region that adopts modular design to allow for highly-customizable hybrid tiering model, and co-locates the ASE landing station and NTT Communications global network node to offer ultra-low latency solution.

1. Tier IV Data Center Infrastructure

FDC1 is designed with Tier IV infrastructure to meet the highest level of redundancy to have fault tolerance with no single point of failure and the ability to withstand critical incidents and natural disasters like earthquakes, fire or leaks. FDC1 also adopts a modular design and is highly customizable for hybrid tiering. Featuring high-density ready design, it enables customers to enjoy total flexibility in maintaining their infrastructure and resources to match different business needs.

2. Modular Design

FDC1 adopts a modular design that facilitates a highly customizable hybrid tiering model. Individual ICT halls are designed as standardised modules with dedicated cooling, power and cabling equipment. It is flexible to scale up or scale down backup equipment as and when needed. With Tier III infrastructure as a foundation, you can upgrade to the most stringent Tier IV standard conveniently. This gives you the flexibility you need to ensure your infrastructure and resources can meet changing market conditions, and is easy to replicate, maintain, operate and troubleshoot.

3. Comprehensive Ultra-Low Latency Solution

While remaining carrier-neutral to serve clients’ need for colocation service, FDC1 provides exceptional options in multi-faceted ultra-low latency solutions, from cross connection within the high density data center, to IPLC throughout major markets in Asia and all the way to the US.

Intra-data Center Cross Connection

The infrastructure of FDC1 is designed to accommodate intra-data center layer 1 / layer 2 cross connections, which allows it to facilitate the shortest possible and most cost-effective connectivity among buyers, sellers, data providers etc housed in the FDC1.

Ultra-low Latency Global Connectivity

By co-locating the cable landing station of the Asia Submarine-cable Express (ASE) as well as a network node of our global network not only provides ultra-low latency connectivity among key financial hubs, but also eliminates backhaul by local carriers, and reduces risks of failure and network costs.

Regional Connectivity

The FDC1 is also connected with other NTT Communications proximity data centers in Singapore and Tokyo, providing rack to rack seamless connection among the three financial hubs within Asia.

Ultra-low Latency to the US

Our Pacific Crossing (PC-1) international submarine cable provides the shortest possible route between the US and Japan, providing an ultra-low latency connectivity.

4. Stringent Security Management

Eight tiers of physical security measures with digital sign-in process ensure that our client’s mission-critical assets are in safe hands. Physical security controls at the site, building and lobby entrances, in the lifts, at floor and ICT hall mantraps right down to the cage and cabin ensure only the right approved personnel has access to your servers.
